Brass Band Division
Brass band division unites the brass bands to support their activities, formations of new bands, and their education. We offer consultations for those interested in creating a new association. This also includes the assistance with the creation of statutes and their approval process as well as the information about the opportunities in the form of competitions and events at home and abroad. In addition, we expand the collaboration with elementary art schools and support other forms of musical education.
The tradition of brass bands in the Czech Republic is several centuries old. After the revolution in 1989 brass music was wrongly disfavored and over time even the most popular brass bands began to disappear. Partially, due to our own fault since the engagement of youth was not sufficient enough. The bands were getting older and the music schools noticed decline in interest in brass instruments. This trend was caused by commercialization of radio stations who left this genre out. These days young people have no clue what brass band really is. The idea that the peak of this genre was during the communism and its parades, was spread by several politicians. However, the true fan of brass music can distinguish between brass music for marching, dancing, etc.
We believe that vigorous reduction in military brass music contributed to fall of military music schools who were the source of professional musicians specializing in brass music.
We aim to support young generation of musicians, brass instrument players, who can appreciate fading values of the brass music and enjoy this genre.
